Salary: FY26 $18,000 (prorated)
Position Summary:
The MLL Family Liaison plays a critical role in ensuring that all Multilingual Learners and their families have equitable access to the district’s educational services. This position is a 12-15 hour per week position during the school year with some flexibility in working hours (may include night time events). No benefits are included. This position is contingent upon grant funding. The MLL Family Liaison supports the identification of MLL students, maintains accurate records, assists with compliance, and supports family communication and enrollment. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, culturally responsive, and committed to fostering inclusive practices for multilingual learners and their families.
Responsibilities:
Identification and Placement
- Assist with the identification and placement of potential multilingual learners (MLLs) across the district by reviewing home language surveys, administering assessments, and gathering previous school records as needed.
- Support the MLL Coordinator with family interviews and student screening as needed.
Data Management and Compliance
- Maintain and update MLL student records, including demographic information, proficiency levels, and program eligibility.
- Ensure accurate and consistent data entry, documentation, and recordkeeping across platforms (Ellevation and Aspen), including assessment data and supporting materials.
- Assist with data preparation for reporting to meet federal and state requirements for multilingual learner programs.
Family Communication and Support
- Serve as a primary point of contact for MLL families during registration, providing culturally and linguistically appropriate communication to support understanding of enrollment procedures and program services.
- Educate MLL families on district and school operations, including their rights and responsibilities under federal and state laws.
- Respond to family questions or concerns about school programs and related activities.
Other responsibilities as directed by the MLL Coordinator.
Qualifications:
- Bilingual Spanish, Haitian Creole, or Portuguese strongly preferred
- Familiarity with Student Information Systems preferred
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills
- Ability to collect, organize, and maintain data
- Excellent interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills
- Proficiency in Google Apps
